 One in ten UAE residents spend up to AED 60,000 a year on beauty products

  • Survey results revealed as part of run-up to the December launch of region’s largest ever lifestyle event – The Life & Style Show UAE.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates –  – New figures have revealed a real passion for beauty products amongst UAE residents, with one in ten spending an impressive AED 60,000 a year on cosmetics – the equivalent of a small car.

Commissioned by dmg events Middle East as it gears up for the December launch of the region’s largest consumer lifestyle event – The Life & Style Show UAE – the survey provides unique insight into the attitudes of UAE residents towards this burgeoning sector as well as personal expenditure levels. It also comes at a time when the UAE’s beauty industry is booming, with the country’s cosmetics market predicted to reach USD$140 million by 2014.[1]

The findings also highlight how important staying on trend is for UAE residents, with 23 per cent of those surveyed admitting to buying a new item of clothing every month.

Taking place on 5th-7th December 2013 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC), The Life & Style Show UAE will comprise of seven individual events, including one specific to Fashion & Beauty. Visitors will have the chance to walk away with some of the best bargains in the UAE from exhibitors such as My Ex Wardrobe; free fashion style advice; and the latest beauty and hair looks with makeovers from Dubai One presenter, Dawn Williamson. If this isn’t enough, The Life & Style Show UAE will host daily catwalk shows including shows from Fusion @ London. Other exhibitors that have signed up include home-grown luxury sandal manufacturer and retailer Al Mandoos and fashion designing boutique Belle Chic Collection.

The Fashion & Beauty Show will sit alongside Speed & Power, Home & Living, Gizmos, Gadgets & Tech, Sport & Leisure, Hobbies & Games and Luxury Property & Build.  Visitors to The Life & Style Show UAE will be able to access the seven individual events, including the feature areas, via one ticket.

According to Euromonitor International, forecasted daily spend on personal care will rise by 13 per cent per person by 2017[i]. This figure suggests a growing interest by consumers in international brands and as such, companies are taking advantage of the fashion and beauty boom with a significant increase in exhibitors attending fashion and beauty events throughout the UAE. The Life & Style Show UAE is the ideal platform for brands to showcase their collections and the show is expected to create a further buzz around this fast moving sector.
