Mirabelle Boutique Abu Dhabi

Mirabelle04

Mirabelle Boutique in Abu Dhabi is an idea borne out of love and necessity. We saw that a particular kind of woman was not being catered to in all the noise of the large scale and uber (glam, high-end, etc.) boutique retail options in the market.  Mirabelle is a passionate undertaking with its finger on the pulse of the needs of today’s woman. Mirabelle is our answer to what a girl wants – an LA concept boutique with unique items that form the foundation for any look.  Mirabelle’s offerings are based on versatile, functional and classic Americana fashions with a modern twist.

Products

The majority of Mirabelle’s stock comes directly from LA, with brands originating from both the East and West Coast.  Each brand varies but new stock arrives every month.  Salma tries to bring over small quantities so to keep the pieces fresh and unique.

Most of the brands Mirabelle stocks are worn by celebrities.  The boutique caters for everyday and timeless wear, and pieces that are not only on trend, but are comfortable and wearable.

Labels stocked include: Genetic Denim, Level99 Jeans, Michael Lauren Clothing, Dolce Vita shoes, Nadia Tarr, Bella Luxx, Bella Dahl, Saint Grace, Eight Sixty, PJ Salvage, SW3, TAT2 Designs and many more.

“I wanted brands that not only were occasionally worn by celebrities and are affordable but those that represented me. When it comes to my customers, the best feedback is a returning customer. Many of my customers are so pleased with their purchases, that they post what they bought on Instagram or Facebook which is a real achievement for me,” Salma says.

About the Owner

The owner, Salma Saad, has an interesting background.  Her parents were originally from Oman but she was born and raised in Tanzania. She has always been the ‘artsy’ one in the family, and when it came time to choosing a career path, she focused on Interior Design for her diploma, which she studied in London.  Salma moved to the UAE over 15 years ago, and finished her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in Dubai.  She is now employed as Design Manager at the Abu Dhabi Airport, where she is currently assigned to the expansion project of the existing airport.  When it comes to fashion, Salma says: “I am more of a wearer of what is comfortable with some elegance. I have never been trendsetter or a follower but I always get compliments for my wardrobe choice.”.

The Mirabelle Concept

Mirabelle is different from many boutiques in the Abu Dhabi retail landscape, firstly as it is a home based boutique. It was a very difficult decision for Salma to set up the boutique at home but she was in a predicament – she had a full-time job, a 5 month old baby and a husband and family to take care of.  She did not want to lose the focus on her family and she wanted them to be a part of her journey. So Salma and her husband came up with the idea of setting up the boutique in their home.

Secondly, Salma always wanted to have that personal shopping experience that rarely exists in the region. With Abu Dhabi being a conservative city, she wanted to give women a personal and (if required) private shopping experience on a different level. When her customers visit the boutique, she wants them to not only leave with a shopping bag, but also feeling happy with their purchase and experience – it’s her return policy. Salma loves it when her customers walk in and are surprised and in awe at the set-up – the boutique is fully stocked, with a wide range of clothes, shoes and accessories, and well laid out, but comfortable as well – it’s like going over to your girlfriend’s place, sitting on the sofa with a cup of tea, and trying on clothes while having a chat.  “I get to sit and have tea/coffee while my favourite show Friends is playing on the large screen, and then the conversations and fitting room sessions begin.”

People can visit anytime but by appointment only as Salma prefers to have smaller groups to give her customers her undivided attention.  The boutique can accommodate visits for women on their own, or in groups of up to 10 people, and private soirees can easily be arranged.  Visiting Mirabelle is not just a shopping trip; it’s an experience that you want to share with friends.
