A Facelift to Look Better on Facebook?

facial plastic sugery facts

Over $1 billion US dollars spent in 2013 on cosmetic procedures.

It is with great excitement that we share the NEW results of the 2013 Annual AAFPRS Member Survey Statistics.

The Survey showcases the growth in the field of facial plastic surgery with over $1 billion US dollars spent in 2013 on cosmetic procedures.

Rhinopopularity Leads the Way

The top 5 most popular procedures performed last year include:

Rhinoplasty – still the #1 procedure year over year

Facelifts

Eyelifts

Skin resurfacing

Revision surgery – increase in patients who are unhappy with prior outcomes and ask for revisions

The survey confirmed that women still lead the way in the number of aesthetic procedures performed with 81% of all surgical procedures and non-surgical procedures performed on women.

The Academy members also noted that technology has changed the way Americans age. Consumers considered both surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation options (actual surgical procedures decreased since 2012), with non-surgical, non-invasive procedures on the rise.

A Facelift to Look Better on Facebook?

The AAFPRS confirms that social media plays a large role in the decision to seek aesthetic cosmetic support.

1 in 3 facial plastic surgeons surveyed saw an increase in requests for procedures due to patients being more self aware of their looks in social media

13% of AAFPRS members surveyed identified increased photo sharing and patients’ dissatisfaction with their own image on social media sites as a rising trend among patients

Starting Younger, Aging Better

Patients under 30 years of age continue to rise – 58% of AAFPRS members surveyed saw an increase in cosmetic surgery and injectables in patients under age 30 in 2013
