5 steps to perfect summer ready skin
By Dr. Marwa El Badawy – Dermatologist at Kaya Skin Clinic
With summer around the corner, it is the right time to get your skin summer ready! With the buoyancy of spring, your skin has just begun renewing after the cold, dry winter air left its harsh effects. Come summer, though, your skin is ready to face another round of harsh treatment thanks to the weather! Now, it’s time to refresh your skin. Get rid of that unwanted hair, nourish, hydrate and protect your skin from hazardous UV rays and treat any imperfections! Here’s your guide in five steps to keep your skin super healthy!
Step 1: Exfoliate and Hydrate
With rising temperatures, the number of dead cells in your skin is on a high. Slough off all the dead cells, refresh your skin with exfoliation. You have the option to exfoliate gently at home. But if you want maximum rejuvenation, the best way to do it is to seek professional microdermabrasion or fruit-acid peeling treatment! Microdermabrasion can improve the appearance of dull skin, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, blackheads, and even sun damage. Always make sure that you use the right kind of soap and cleanser – since the rather heavily scented harsh soaps strip your skin off its natural oils and cause it to dry out.
Selecting the right kind of soothing and gentle moisturizing cleanser is the first step to ensure that you have happy and hydrated skin. Make sure that you also use the right kind of moisturizer during day and night – for that is essential to keep your skin hydrated. The use of Hyaluronic Acid also plays a great role in making sure that the skin’s rejuvenation process remains healthy and intact, by retaining moisture, regulating the process of tissue repair – thereby keeping the skin soft and supple. Do not forget to hydrate your hair with a nourishing and protective shampoo and serum! If you have hair fall during winter, use mesohair, which is enriched with vitamins, in order to reduce hair fall and nourish your scalp.
Treat your skin to a hydrating facial so that you maximize the use of antioxidant rich fresh ingredients that then help to keep your skin oxygenated. In the process, you wind up reducing the extent of damage caused by UV radiation from the sun. Spray facial mists that are enriched in rich minerals. A good companion to this end is thermal water. One of the best ways to keep your skin hydrated is by drinking plenty of water!
Step 2: Get hair free silky skin
It’s time for those beautiful summer dresses, shorts and Capris. Make sure to find your way to smooth, silky and hair-free skin. Make sure to avoid razor-burns, ingrown hairs, cuts, waxing burns, pigmentation and chemical irritation by conventional hair removal remedies by resorting to laser hair removal. Unlike other hair removal treatments, the use of laser hair removal is a safe and effective method to smoothen the skin, reduce pigmentation and prevent ingrown hair.
All thanks to new technology, laser hair reduction has become safe, pain-free and comfortable process. Treat your skin with few laser hair removal sessions which will make your silky smooth hair-free skin looking simply stunning!
Step 3: Get rid of cellulite and stretch marks
Cellulite refers to the dimpled flesh that is deposited on the thighs, hips and abdomen areas. It is not a serious medical condition at all, but it make your skin look unsightly, and make you think twice about getting into a pair of shorts or a swimsuit. Mesocarboxytherapy is a new and effective treatment that helps address localized obesities and cellulite. Carbon-di-oxide gas is injected into the tissue, using a sophisticated and scientifically developed technique to improve circulation and blood supply to improve tissue oxygenation. Alternating with mesotherapy by using proven natural herbal ingredients with vitamins, Mesocarboxytherapy eliminates the buildup of unwanted fluids between cells and reduces fat deposition. Mesocarboxytherapy is also used to lessen the appearance of stretch marks and scars through increasing the blood supply and collagen formation allowing the skin surrounding the scar to constrict and contract. This shrinks the scar tissue and improves the skin appearance.
Step 4: Protect
The sun’s rays mostly contain ultraviolet A (UVA) radiation, which does not burn the skin as fast as ultraviolet B (UVB radiation). However, it goes deeper into the skin and causes irreversible skin aging, loss of elasticity, sagging, wrinkles, brown spots and more. In addition, UVA, like UVB, can cause skin cancer. There is no such thing as a safe tan. However, you can enjoy the beach and boost your Vitamin-D by making sure to do a few simple things. Avoid excessive exposure to the sun and seek the shade between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, when the sun is at its strongest. Apply a full ounce (or two tablespoons) of sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher at least 30 minutes before exposure to the sun. Wear protective clothing, such as wraparound UV-blocking sunglasses, broad-brimmed hats and tightly woven, bright-colored clothes. Tanning beds also contain a lot of UVA radiation. The bottom line is, do not get a tan!
Step 5: Treat
Spring is a great time for injectable treatments that will help you get rid of fine lines and wrinkles. You’ll be fully recovered in time for summer. Spring time botulinum neuromodulation, fillers, vitamin mesoglow, laser photofacials, radiofrequency or thread nonsurgical lifting treatment will help you look your best (even without makeup!) as you hit the beaches and the pool this summer!
