March 2014: The Reebok Classic X Keith Haring partnership and design collaboration continues with a new range for SS14, featuring four much-loved Reebok Classic silhouettes: Classic Leather Lux, Workout Mid Strap, Princess and NPC Lux. The exclusive partnership fuses art with fashion and reflects Reebok’s commitment to culture- whether music, fashion or art- and the brand’s devotion to celebrating the world’s leading creative talent.
The partnership, facilitated by international art and design-consulting group Artestar, is now in its third season and delivers a bold and directional SS14 collection. Featuring stylistic product for which the collaboration is renowned, the collection includes fresh updates and new executions for a modernized aesthetic which presents some of Reebok’s most celebrated Classic silhouettes in a new and exciting way.
Each model in the Reebok Classic X Keith Haring collection features a custom Haring sock liner, full-grain leather upper with raised 3D print and Haring’s signature on the heel. The collection features bold, bright color executions- orange, pink, green and yellow uppers are emblazoned with black artworks to create an impactful and visually arresting design.
Keith Haring erupted on to the contemporary art scene in the early 1980s and fast became one of the world’s most influential contemporary artists. At the same time, Reebok was making its mark in the fashion and sports worlds with the introduction of some of the brand’s most iconic products. The creative spirit and cultural influence shared by Reebok Classic and the Keith Haring Foundation make the partnership a natural fit.
The Reebok Classic X Keith Haring collection was inspired by one of Haring’s most celebrated works, “Matrix”, a 30-foot-long-ink on paper drawing created in 1983. This internationally acclaimed work was most recently on view at the Brooklyn Museum as part of the “Keith Haring: 1978-1982” exhibition which ran from March 16 – July 8, 2012.
