Statement handmade clutches for the Season

Passionate by the Arabic calligraphy and by the complexity of plexiglass material, Jordanian designer Meera Toukan designed a line of clutches mixing modernity and cultural heritage.

The accessory brand fuses the worlds of art, architecture and accessories with its contemporary designs.

Handmade in Jordan, each Meera Toukan piece is a work of art, expressing Meera’s understanding and appreciation of traditional Arabic culture in a contemporary, universal milieu. Paying homage to the designer’s heritage, Meera blends the ancient art of calligraphy along with the traditional Keffiyeh to create a collection of coveted clutches. The brand also offers a range of seasonal hoodies that bear the same hallmarks of the accessory range.

The brands aesthetic is detailed and considered, defined by modern silhouettes while presenting an ode to Middle Eastern culture. Through the brands vision to build a sustainable product, Meera Toukan aims to empower local artisans and workshops by including them in the production process, in the hopes to provide the world with original pieces that have an emphasis on sustainability and culture.

The designer:

Founder and creative director Meera Toukan was born and raised in Amman, Jordan. She moved to London to continue her studies at the University of the Arts London, where she studied Fashion Business. She went on to attended Regent’s Fashion School London where she studied Fashion Marketing. It was during her studies that Meera decided to launch her brand, originally focused on crafting a range of emoji inspired hoodies and Keffiyeh bomber jackets. Realizing her fusion of East and West culture is somewhat unexplored, presented her with an opportunity to highlight her heritage to the world through a modernized medium. In 2020, Meera transitioned into designing acrylic clutches inspired by Keffiyeh and Arabic calligraphy while still offering hoodies seasonally.
