Last week, Paris Gallery hosted the pres day at the VIP Fashion Lounge, Dubai Mall.
The event had an amazing display of trendy and sophisticated bags with Digital prints of the Middle Eastern times and places which holds one close to the spiritual truth….
Etro celebrates Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic year dedicated to fasting and spiritual introspection, launching a capsule collection of sophisticated bags.
Reflecting the brand’s iconic deep passion and fascination for different cultures, the capsule, which includes six different styles spanning from shoppers with detachable pouches to totes, pays tribute to the Arabic art.
The bags, all embellished with a gold metallic charm featuring the Etro logo and a crescent moon, as well as a customized printed leather inside label, come in colourful, intricate patterns inspired by the complex and sumptuous geometries expressing the logic and order inherent in the Islamic vision of the universe.
Creating an unbroken rhythm and interweaving, the abstract patterns mix the curvilinear with the rectilinear in a proliferation of symmetric decorations. In keeping with the Arabic art’s tradition, these embody the concept of divine unity expressed in the visible world through the harmony of rhythm and geometry, the unifying intermediary between the material and the spiritual world.
The decorative patterns are based on the repetition of geometric elements occurring both in Arabic architecture and applied arts.
Arabic art’s strong spiritual connotation also emerges in the figurative patterns. Exquisite, vivid scenes of Middle Eastern courts and caravans in the desert are reproduced on some of the bags with that two-dimensional, frontal perspective characterizing the Arabic style. Avoiding the third dimension, Arabic artists meant to represent an ideal, spiritual truth.
The capsule collection, which perfectly combines the richness of Arabic art’s decorations with Etro’s signature upscale Italian craftsmanship, will be exclusively available in the Middle-Eastern market starting from June 2015.
